Unfortunately, Olicity ‘shippers were in for a rude awakening this week. Not only was Oliver pursued by an Arrow-obsessed, red-haired Cupid, but Wednesday’s episode “Draw Back Your Bow” also included the highly anticipated kiss between Felicity and Ray Palmer. So yeah, Oliver and Felicity’s relationship is kinda taking a beating on all fronts these days. But should we take this as a sign that Olicity is dunzo for good? I wouldn’t necessarily go that far since I truly believe this duo is the show's endgame. That being said, I gotta admit I’m kind of loving the Raylicity dynamic. Regardless of how long it will last.
Don't get me wrong, I love the whole mysterious broody thing Oliver always has going on, but Ray's easy going personality is a breath of fresh air and serves as the perfect counterpoint to Felicity's sunny (yet lovably awkward) demeanor. I can't believe I'm saying these words, but… I think they make a really cute couple. I mean, for their "platonic" dinner date the guy got her a Couture dress and loaned her a $10 million diamond necklace. Guys, he basically Pretty Woman-ed her! It doesn't get much better than that. Plus he gave us the very thing Arrow Season 3 has been missing…
Felicity's right, she really does have a type. But shirtless workouts aside though, their relationship is stemming much deeper than expensive possessions and six-pack abs (though they certainly don't hurt matters). During their business dinner, it's clear just how much Felicity admires everything Ray is trying to accomplish for the good of the world. When she's with him, she's not some nervous, stammering girl. She's a strong and confident woman. The perfect partner for him in both work and play.
So of course all of this lead to a kiss at the end of the evening. And in what has to be the worst timing ever, Oliver was a witness to it — just as he was about to confess how he's feeling for Felicity, thanks to a little push from couples counselor Daddy Diggle. So no, it's not Olicity's time to shine right now. However, it's clear that those feelings for each other still exist, which means there's still hope. But that's not going to stop me from continuing to enjoy witnessing Ray and Felicity's budding romance unfold. (Sorry, not sorry.)
