Raise your hand if you still can't believe Pitch Perfect, the little musical movie that could, is getting a sequel. I know I can't, and, working in the entertainment news biz, I've been aware of the sequel's existence since it was first rumored all the way back in 2012. But, it's real! It's happening! Pitch Perfect 2 is real, and EW just gave it a whole amazing — or, should I say, aca-mazing? — cover to prove it. Pitch Perfect 2 stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow grave the EW cover for the magazine's "exclusive first look" at the upcoming sequel, which is set to be released in May 2015.
In addition to Kendrick, Wilson, and Snow, the sequel also got most of the original first film's stars to return, and they managed to nab Hollywood heavyweight Elizabeth Banks to direct.
Making this whole thing even better is the accompanying piece on EW is a pretty fascinating read for even the casual Pitch Perfect fan: Not only does it deliver an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the film, as promised, but it also includes a ton of fun quotes from the entire cast. It's Aca-excellent.
The excitement doesn't stop there, either: In addition to this cover, the full first trailer for Pitch Perfect 2 is reportedly set to debut Thursday, so it won't be much longer until this franchise is really back in our lives.
