Will This Photo Of Kim "Break The Internet"?
by Jessica Blankenship

Alright, Paper Magazine, I'll play your game. I'll play your "Can we get this photo of Kim Kardashian to break the internet" game for a few reasons:
- I'm inexplicably a fan of referring to super-viral things as "breaking" the internet. I don't know why I like it. I say it all the time. I think because I can imagine Kanye saying it, and channeling that kind of unwavering, deluded self-confidence and grandeur within my mere mortal existence is subtly empowering.
- I think it's really darling that you think a greased-up Kardashian ass is going to be shocking or even entirely noteworthy to a single soul in this wasted world at this point. It's 2014. Even Ray J is tired of talking about Kim's ass.
- Regardless of the presence of super shiny dumps like a truck, this cover is super pleasing in every way. Much art direction. Good aesthetics.
- I increasingly get the feeling that the biggest difference between Kim Kardashian and Kim Kardashian West is that Ms. Kardashian was always laughing a bit at herself – but Mrs. West is smirking at the entire game, toying with the media (social and otherwise), not in a subversive, secret, sinister way, but in a joyfully manipulative way that seems to speak to an understanding of both her power and the utter frivolity of that which she reigns over. I might be giving her a little too much credit, but(t) I kinda don't think I am. And I'm so goddamn into it.
Anyway, here's Paper Magazine's new cover. Let's see if the internet breaks.
