Is It Really Goodbye for Teresa Giudice & 'RHONJ'?
The Nov. 11 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey will finish up the Season 6 reunion, and then there's just one more "Secrets Revealed" episode on Nov. 13 before we stick a fork in this season. I'm sad it's over, because I still feel like we got robbed of some Jersey drama this season. But what I'm really sad about, as I'm sure we all are, is that it may be the last time we see Teresa Giudice on RHONJ .
The promos leading up to the third part of the RHONJ reunion have played up the fact that this is goodbye for Teresa and her husband Joe, at least for now. As you probably know, Teresa and Joe were sentenced to 15 and 41 months in prison, respectively, after they pled guilty to "various fraud and tax charges." Teresa will be serving her jail time first, reporting to Danbury federal prison camp on Jan. 5, 2015. Taking into account the length of her sentence and the filming and broadcast schedules of RHONJ, Teresa won't likely be a part of Season 7 of RHONJ, and possibly even the one after that. But does that mean this is definitely Teresa's last season?
That's certainly a possibility. The promo for Part 3 of the reunion seems to suggest that Teresa will tell host Andy Cohen and the rest of the Housewives that this will most likely be her last season, even though there are reports that Bravo will film Teresa before she reports to prison. Teresa has also said previously that she sometimes regrets coming on the show. Earlier in the reunion, Teresa said that she thought the show would be fun, but it has inspired some people to come on RHONJ and hurt her. Now that her friend and fellow Housewife Dina Manzo has said she won't be returning to the show, there's really no one keeping Teresa there either. Though Teresa would not comment on this during the Watch What Happens Live post-sentencing special with Cohen, some might even say that appearing on the show contributed to the Giudices' downfall.
However, Teresa has plenty of reasons to return to RHONJ in the future, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if she did. For starters, just because Teresa has, understandably, sour grapes toward the series now doesn't mean she will in the future. If you recall, Dina left the show in the middle of Season 2 and returned this season, even if she has stated that she will not be returning for Season 7. For some reason, reality TV stars tend to have shorter memory spans than other human-beings.
Teresa could also be tempted to return if the price is right. She will no doubt have a lot of legal bills to pay when she gets out of prison. Teresa already had to pony up some cash to pay nearly half of her and Joe's more than $414,000 restitution. With Teresa's many business ventures also not doing so well in light of her recent legal issues, she's going to have to get money from somewhere. She has four daughters and Gia's budding music career to support, after all. Plus, when she gets out of prison, Joe will be starting his sentence, meaning she'll need a way to make money all by herself. Aside from being a mom, being a reality star is probably the greatest skill Teresa has. She might as well make some money off of it.
Even if Teresa doesn't return as a full-fledged Housewife, I have a feeling this won't be the last we see of her on TV (see: money). Whether it's a cameo on RHONJ Season 44, a guest spot on Watch What Happens Live every six months to update us on her life, or her own spin-off (Giudice'd with Children, anyone?), I sincerely doubt Teresa will be able to stay off Bravo for long. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
