11 Thanksgiving Quotes To Inspire You Today

by Kathryn Kattalia

Thanksgiving is a holiday where there is plenty to talk about — provided you can spare a few precious seconds in between forkfuls of whatever delicious side dish you're shoveling into your mouth to say a few words. It's a time to sit around the dinner table with your friends and family, the people you love the most, and declare out loud what it is you're thankful for this year — and every year, for that matter. It's a tried and true tradition that all families seem to practice in one way or another, and if these Thanksgiving quotes are anything to go by, there are plenty of ways to express your gratitude. Let these inspire you.

From John F. Kennedy's Thanksgiving proclamation to Johnny Carson reminding us in a hilarious way how important it is to connect with the ones we love, there's a quote here for just about everyone. So as you're prepping what it is you're going to say when it's your turn to give thanks (when I was little, I actually used to write things down ahead of time on notecards so as not to be caught off guard), here are a few choice words of wisdom to help guide you in the right direction. And remember — even though there may be more than one way to say "I'm thankful," the message is universal. Really, you can't mess this up.
