How Many Tattoos Does Iggy Azalea Have?
One would imagine Iggy Azalea as the kind of badass babe who casually gets a tattoo whenever the mood may strike her. I’m also guessing that she’s probably gotten so many by now that she barely feels the pain of a needle. While Azalea has some great tattoos that are prominently visible at red carpets, you may be surprised to find out how many tattoos Iggy Azalea has. Her body art count is considerably lower than you’d think.
Azalea hasn't gone on record to give the exact tally, but from what I can tell, the Aussie rapper only has five tattoos. Even if she’s not covered in secret skin drawings, she’s basically as carefree about getting inked as you would imagine. In 2012, she told Dazed Magazine that she got every tattoo she has on the same day she thought of it. Hey, if there ever was a free spirit, it would be a girl whose birth name is Amethyst, amirite?
In addition to spontaneity being an integral part of her tattoo M.O., she also feels a sense of control over her body when getting inked. She said:
I was reading about tattoos, cos I like to know why I do crazy things, and they were saying how making something a part of your body is a way for you, in your mind, to try and control something. You know what I mean? When you feel out of control?
With that manifesto, let's break down Iggy's body art quotient.
"Trust Your Struggle" on her right forearm
Azalea didn't get her very first tattoo until she moved to LA in 2010 at the age of 18. As she told Dazed, the saw this phrase "Trust Your Struggle" written in graffiti, and immortalized it on her right arm nearly 20 minutes later.
"Live Love A$AP" on her left hand fingers
Azalea got this tattoo in 2011 in the midst of her rumored relationship with rapper A$AP Rocky. In 2012, she tattooed an X over the A$AP, canceling out the memory of her "ex" tattoo, which ironically was the only body art she didn't get on a whim. She told Hot 97 that she didn't alter the tattoo with any hard feelings in mind. Instead, she just thought it would be sorta weird to keep her former beau's name tattooed to her body post-breakup.
"The New Classic" on her right hand fingers
The very same year that Iggy got the A$AP tattoo, she hot a mirroring phrase on the opposite hand: "The New Classic." Hey! That's the name of her album!
"Colour Me Free" on her right foot
Who doesn't love a good old brush script phrase tattooed on their foot?
Boticelli's "Birth Of Venus" on her right forearm
Azalea branded her arm with this Italian Renaissance masterpiece to cover up a previous tattoo of a flower on her wrist. Artist Corey Davis recreated the iconic image for Iggy in 2012, the same year that she released her first EP Glory.
Add 'em all together, and you have the canvas that is Iggy Azalea.
