If you follow legendary #GirlBoss Sophia Amoruso on Instagram or are a weekly (or daily...) Nasty Gal shopper, you've probably heard the rumblings about the online retailer's moves into the brick and mortar space. And while many NG fans have been anxiously awaiting for the open date, Amoruso has kept her mouth relatively shut about specific details... until now. According to Amoruso's Instagram, Nasty Gal's first real store will open on November 21.
Angelenos will be the lucky ones to get the first storefront, which will appropriately have a Melrose Place address. If you've been following the story (which first broke almost exactly one year ago), you've learned (via Instagram, mostly) that opening a store isn't as easy as it sounds. Sure, you'd think it'd be a pretty seamless transition: buy a building, decorate it with a bunch of photos of the broody NG models and fill it with all of the stock they sell online. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Because as many have learned (via #GirlBoss), Amoruso is a perfectionist and one of the hardest women in the business. When she does something, she gives it her all, and this store, in addition to all future NG storefronts, will definitely be a reflection of that.
To prove that it's been quite the journey from online retailer to Nasty Gal storefront, I've gathered some photographic evidence from Amoruso's Instagram. Here's what it looks like to open up a major clothing store.
1. It involves a lot of paperwork, crunching numbers, excel sheets (and venti iced teas...)
2. It involves a lot of selfies when scouting locations
3. It Involves planning every little detail, down to the shopping bag
...and signage
4. It involves a lot of photo documentation AKA "before" shots
5. It involves being excited and teasing fans with small snapshots of the store
Oooh, I just can't wait.
