11 Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert Quotes That Show They're the Cutest Couple in Their Own Unique Way
Everyone has been buzzing about Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. They dominated the Country Music Awards last night by winning awards — they took home the Male and Female Vocalist of the Year awards between them — being funny, and looking great. But outside of their award show appearances, they are the cutest couple because they don't try to be the cutest couple. They keep it real all the time. Their candor is charming, and they say the most amusing things about each other.
Check out these 11 quotes that will prove that Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are the most adorable couple around — but in a tough sort of way.
On Doing Interviews Together
As cute as the couple is, they never try to make appearances all about them being together. Even with all the country music overlap, they insist on doing interviews separately. Blake Shelton explained this recently in his own segment of the same 60 Minutes interview saying, “We do interviews [separately], I love talking about her, I’ll talk about her all day if you want to. But for her and I to sit here together, it’s just going to turn into something about our marriage and it’s all we got left that’s private, is she and I and our home. And we just want to keep it that way.”
On How They Communicate
Lambert opened up about her husband’s supportive attitude in a Self Magazine interview: “I asked Blake, ‘Dude, why didn’t you tell me I got fat?’ … He said, ‘That would go over like a lead balloon. It’s not my job to tell you you’re fat. It’s my job to tell you’re beautiful.’”
On Keeping It Real
Lambert and Shelton keep it real. Yes, they are a cute couple, but they don’t overdose on the adorable fluff. Shelton commented on this in a Redbook interview, saying, “Miranda doesn’t want — and I’m using this for lack of a better word — a wuss. She doesn’t want a whipped guy. That’s not attractive to her, and honestly, I can’t imagine that would be attractive to any girl. I think that’s one of the things that’s kept us interesting to one another. She’s the same way with me. She was my girlfriend and now she’s my wife, but my God, she’s still Miranda Lambert, and nobody can tell her what to do or boss her around! She’s a powerful, powerful personality — in a good way.” It looks like they both wear the pants in this relationship and it’s great to see.
On Being Eternal Newlyweds
In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2012, Lambert talked about how their relationship is affected by time spent apart, “We’ve been married almost a year and a half, but have only been in the same place together for about five months. At this rate, we’ll be newlyweds for three years.”
On Infidelity
“I think Blake is a bit scared of me. He says he’s not, but I’ve said, ‘If you cheat, I’ll spray-paint all of your trophy deer heads pink,’” Miranda Lambert joked in a Self Magazine interview. Or at least I think she’s joking. She’s a fierce lady, so I can’t really tell.
On Hiding Text Messages
So many couples get into crazy arguments about text messages. That is probably why the screen lock was invented. However, Blake Shelton is very open about what’s on his phone. He told People magazine that his wife can look at his phone whenever she wants: “That’s always been our policy: ‘Here’s my phone. Go through it.’” If only all men were this transparent, the world would be a better place.
On Knowing They've Found "The One"
Even though he is not the romantic type, Shelton spoke to Redbook about how he knew his wife was the one for him: “I met Miranda, and she just was that girl. I’m screwed now that I’ve met her, because I don’t know who could be better for me in my eyes and my mind.”
On Looking Beyond Appearance
Everyone is always talking about how these two are the hottest couple in country music, but when asked how she would describe Blake Shelton aside from the word “hot,” Miranda Lambert told Redbook: “I would say personality. He lights up a room. Seriously, he is the life of every party he goes to.”
On the Difference Between Marriage & Dating
The couple loves being together, but they are not obsessed with being a couple and do not feel a rush to do anything just because they are married. Blake Shelton explained this to Redbook: “I think just knowing you’re married and having that in the back of your mind all the time — it sounds official, but it doesn’t really feel any different. We don’t do anything differently than we did before.”
On Acclimating With Each Other's Family
It’s good to make a nice impression on your in-laws, but can you make too good of an impression? Shelton explained how this could be true in a Redbook interview saying, “Miranda’s told me that, God forbid, if we ever break up, she knows I’m going to get her family in the divorce! The second I met her family, we clicked.” It could be worse. I mean, at least they all like him.
