Despite Cancer, Diem's Living Life to the Fullest

by Allyson Koerner

On and off for nearly 10 years, MTV reality star Diem Brown has been battling cancer, but that's not going to stop her from living life and staying positive. In a recent interview with People, Brown opened up about the spreading of her cancer, which, unfortunately, is now in her liver and lymph nodes, in addition to her stomach and colon. She was shocked by the news and says, "I was blown away. It really crushed a little bit of my spirit." Despite the devastating blow, Brown vows to beat this battle and looks to the future.

It's my personal perspective that you live as hard and as vigorously as you can. My goals are something I believe in, because I believe I'm going to make it. I'm going to have a family and get married and the whole American, 2½ kids, white-picket-fence dream. It's something that's really important to me, because it means a long-term future.

Throughout her journey, Brown has had amazing family and friends standing by her side, including former boyfriend Chris "CT" Tamburello, who joined her in the hospital and shared his visit with his Instagram followers via a photo and note reading, "Sometimes just being there for someone can be the difference between a good and bad day." No matter if Brown and CT are or aren't together, this just goes to show those who truly love and care about you will be there for you when it really matters.

It's inspiring to see and hear about Brown's cancer battle, because she is so open and positive. Not only is she helping fellow cancer victims and survivors, but she's showing that when life throws you a curve ball the best thing to do is keep your head up and continue looking ahead.

"It's a complete 180. It reminds you that when you're at your lowest moment, the turnaround could be the next day. You never know what the next day could bring."
