Have mercy! Apparently your favorite comedienne and favorite TV uncle have something in common because... Amy Poehler went on a date with John Stamos?! Talk about one lucky lady! Don't we all dream about going on a date with this beautiful specimen of a man [insert my roommate nodding her head profusely]? On Monday, Poehler visited Howard Stern's radio show to promote her memoir Yes Please, where she opened up about watching porn, doing drugs, divorce, and, yes, having dinner with Stamos — but she's not entirely sure it was an actual date.
Following her 2014 divorce from fellow actor Will Arnett, Poehler reentered the dating scene, but it was nothing like she remembered. "I remember I was at dinner with John Stamos... handsome men are really something else... We were having dinner and I was like, 'Oh, maybe this is a date!' But I didn't know," she revealed. "But I kind of blew it... I remember thinking like, 'Oh, s--t. Like, if this is really a date…' I think I was wearing a Leslie Knope top. I think I was wearing a shirt from work," she added laughing.
Side note: the Parks and Recreation star assured Stern that she "didn't f--k Stamos."
OK. Who else feels better about Poehler's awkward dating story? I know I do. The dating scene, especially on first dates, can be so uncomfortable. Hell, we even do and say things that we never thought possible. Most of the time we're thinking to ourselves, "Why did I just say that?" Knowing that even Poehler, one of the funniest and most successful ladies of comedy, doesn't act perfect on a date is comforting. Even she says she prefers to date people she already knows, like her current boyfriend, comedian Nick Kroll. See, you don't have to be 100 percent suave to score a significant other.
