6 Vegan Mashed Potato Recipes That Show Butter And Cream Are For Wusses
Can we talk about something, you guys? Turkey Day may have been built around the whole bird-eating thing, but is anyone paying attention to the bird? (Hint: no.) Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you Thanksgiving is nothing without mashed potatoes — or in this case, vegan mashed potatoes.
Turkeys, Tofurkys, candied hams — they might all be known as staple items on the table for a day filled with giving thanks, but when there’s a whole plate of ‘taters sitting stationary just a few seats down, is anyone giving the meat a second glance when the whipped goodness is giving you the eye? (In case you needed another hint, no, no one cares. Potatoes are life.)
The creamy, heavenly, scintillatingly irresistible goodness is just too much to refuse. Great Aunt Marge might be delighted to go on and on about all that she’s thankful for this year, but all you really want is a chance to whisper sweet nothings into those fluffy white clouds of carb-filled magic as you indulge in bite after bite.
It would probably do us all some good to admit that while the Tofurky might bring us to the table, those delicate white tufts are what really keep us there — and coming back for more.
And because we are doing nothing from here on out except counting down the minutes until it’s dinner time, here are some sinfully good vegan mashed recipes to pin, re-pin, and drool over until mom’s gathering you all for your assigned seats. (Cheers to you if you get there in time to swap seats with someone at the opposite end from Marge.)
