A Horrifying Update to the Mama June Story
The latest update to the story of June Shannon (aka Mama June, star of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo) allegedly dating a registered sex offender is the most disturbing yet. According to TMZ, the man in question, Mark McDaniel, molested Mama June's own daughter, now 20-year-old Anna. As the website reports, Anna was eight at the time of the alleged molestation. They say: "The 8-year-old girl who was molested by Mama June's new guy is June's own daughter, Anna ... and Anna wanted us to tell everybody." It's unclear if Anna actually spoke with TMZ, but it sounds more like a source filled them in. Either way, this claim is horrifying, and one can only hope that June really is not dating McDaniel, as she claims.
On Thursday, reports came out that June was back together with McDaniel who she apparently dated 10 years ago before he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for child molestation. There was also word that the person McDaniel molested was an 8-year-old who was related to June; although it was not said what the relation was.
On Friday morning, June took to her Facebook page to deny the claim she was dating McDaniel, and soon after TLC confirmed that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo would be cancelled. June later responded with a "truth video" on Facebook, in which she again denied the claims she was seeing McDaniel and thanked fans for their support over the years.
Back to Anna: According to TMZ, she is the girl who McDaniel forced to perform oral sex when she was eight years old. TMZ adds that Anna "believed her mom earlier today that she was not dating the man who molested her. But we're told Anna has now received a lot more info, and is now convinced June betrayed her by seeing McDaniel again." Anna supposedly feels her relationship with her mother has been "destroyed."
It's hard to know what to believe in this situation. Is Mama June still seeing Mark McDaniel? Was Anna really the child who was molested? Did TMZ actually get this information from Anna directly? But it is clear that something — something that sounds horrific — is going on, and the only thing we can do is hope for the best for Anna, and June's three other children.
