"Openly dating behind closed doors" Is Confusing

by Christine DiStasio

It's been awhile since Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin consciously uncoupled back in March and made the announcement on the actress' lifestyle site, Goop, which subsequently broke the Internet. Mostly because we were all Googling what the hell "conscious uncoupling" meant. Well, Gwyn's making up her own relationship rules again — according to Page Six, Paltrow and Brad Falchuk are "openly dating, but behind closed doors." I'm sorry, but doesn't the second half of that phrase imply that you're not, technically, out in the open with your relationship?

Sure, Paltrow and the Glee producer were linked back in August, but we all kind of forgot about them when Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin started publicly dating. Well, apparently, Paltrow will not be outdone by all of the attention that Martin-Lawrence is getting. A source revealed to Page Six that Paltrow and Falchuk "go to private Hollywood parties together," so only Hollywood insiders are aware of the fact that they're together. So, I guess that's what "openly dating behind closed doors" means, people.

Paltrow and Falchuk — who met when the actress guest-starred on Glee as substitute teacher Holly Holiday — are only dating among the stars that run in their same party circuit and they're staying away from the public eye. Lucky for them, I suppose, considering the difficult time J Law's been having since she's been linked to Martin.

Will there be a post on Goop to confirm and explain "openly dating behind closed doors?" Because as much as I can decode for myself, this is about as confusing as when she announced that "conscious uncoupling" was a thing.
