The high end, athletically skewed designer collabo is scorching right now. Stella McCartney for Adidas is, well, stellar and several seasons deep. The upcoming, soon-to-be-sold-out-everywhere Alexander Wang for H&M collection is pumped up workout wear that looks better outside of a fitness center. Now, the Mary Katrantzou for Adidas mashup has finally arrived and it's everything, just as we'd hoped. It's architectural, print heavy, and bright, featuring fun, casual-but-chic nighttime dresses, sweatshirts, and bombers. Oh and sneakers. Duh.
The range is playful, with lots of sneaker references that are cute, not kitschy. There's also lots of texture in the look. The neoprene fabric and the prints look super touchable and the shapes of the dresses are architectural. Who knew that an Adidas collabo could be this fashion-forward? You don't need to be an avid spinner to appreciate these pieces, either.
If Katrantzou's (unique) name is not instantly familiar for you, she's a British designer who has earned "It" status. Her version of gym chic has a distinct point of view. One dress even has a Balenciaga-like, blooming silhouette.
The range lands on November 15, so if you get shut out of Wang x H&M on November 6 (which is highly likely — sorry), then turn your attention to Katrantzou x Adidas. This is a consolation prize that is hardly a second place finish.
Get ready to gawk your face off. My personal faves are the dresses.
1. Coatdress Love
I love how it drops and protrudes at the hips and how the Adidas signature leaf is worked in.
2. Sneaker Pimp
So cute, mod, and all sorts of fun with that lace print.
3. A New Sort of Shoe Lust
More sneaker print playfulness, without being too self-referential.
4. Bombs Away
Bombers are so fall appropriate and Katrantzou's are jacked up with their hues.
5. The New Classic
This top lights up a room with its brightness.
But wait. There's more below!
