Thanks to Vulture, we've now got the first trailer for Palo Alto , which stars James Franco and is based off of short stories written by, you guessed it, James Franco. If you haven't heard of it, don't worry — at this point, Franco's list of side projects will just never end because there are too many that he's working on at any given time. At this point, it's best to just sit back, let it happen, and try not to understand how he's doing everything and getting a good night's rest at the same time.
Directed and adapted into a screenplay by Sofia Coppola's niece, Gia Coppola, the film stars Franco as a soccer coach who decides it would be a great idea to seduce one of his teenaged players, portrayed by Emma Roberts.
There's also a storyline following a pair of troubled kids played by Nat Wolff and Jack Kilmer. Jack's dad, Val Kilmer, also makes an appearance in the trailer, albeit for a moment. Seeing as the film was adapted from some short stories, it'll be interesting to see what Coppola did with it — though, with Franco so close to production that he's actually in the movie (not to mention the fact that every Coppola is too talented for their own good), it seems like this one might actually be a winner.
You can check out the trailer in full below. Palo Alto is set to premiere at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend.
