Did Gillian Anderson Confirm New 'X-Files' Movie?

by Gina Vaynshteyn

Gillian Anderson, aka Dana Scully, aka Stella Gibson, aka Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, is a wearer of many hats, and the haver of many, many wonderfully nerdy fans. Although, to be fair, we're all nerdy fans when it comes to Gillian Anderson. Most recently, she wrote a book, A Vision of Fire, which is about a psychologist trying to figure out why everyone and everything around her has suddenly gone creepily haywire. Anderson went on Reddit this morning to promote A Vision of Fire, and she answered a lot of very important questions, asked by those very nerdy fans. If you haven't browsed through the form yet and don't feel like doing so, I can provide some highlights for you. You're welcome.

1. Anderson really wants to be cast in the all-female Ghostbusters

When asked, “Would you have liked to be in the recently all-female casting of Ghostbusters ,” Anderson replied, “OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Fieg, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I’m free!!!! I’m free and I’m funny goddamnit!” I wholeheartedly support this, obviously.

2. She wants to contribute to The X-Files Files podcast

Kumail Nanjiani has a podcast called “The X-Files Files,” and Anderson is totally down to join for an episode.

3. There might be a third X-Files movie, and it’s kind of happening?

A third installment of the X-Files movies has been in the talks for a million years (okay, maybe two or three), but no one has officially said anything about it. Unfortunately, not even Anderson. When asked about it, she responded, “Uh….uh…uh… Sorta kinda. Keep your ears to the ground.” DO NOT MESS WITH OUR EMOTIONS LIKE THIS. WE WANT TO BELIEVE, SCULLY.

4. Apparently Mads Mikkelsen is awesome to work with on the show Hannibal

I haven’t seen Hannibal, but I hear it’s bitingly good (HA, get it?) When asked what it's like to work alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Anderson replied, “He’s an extraordinary actor, and a great pleasure tow ork with. And a lovely person.” Good to know.

5. If she had to change anything about Scully, it would be her hair and clothes in the first two seasons

I mean. It wouldn’t have hurt.

6. She cried at the end of the Lego Movie

I feel like when Scully cries, the whole world cries with her. Even about Legos.

7. Anderson is very sensitive to paranormal activity IRL

A Reddit user asked Anderson if she’s ever had a real life "X-Files moment". Anderson answered, “I’ve definitely felt other spirits. I’m quite sensitive to it. And yes. But it’s not something you can really talk about with too many people, especially not me.” Am I the only one who really, really wants to hear Anderson tell a ghost story? After all this time, she HAS to be an expert, right?

8. Her favorite X-Files Episode is “Bad Blood”

Anderson is very vehement about this. Probably because she’s been asked a trillion times. She writes, “BAD BLOOD!! HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY?” Yep. All caps.

9. She’s super laid back

When asked what she does on a “normal, free day”, Anderson tells Reddit she goes to the park with her sons in the morning, grabs a coffee, goes back to the park again, reads, and watches movies with her daughter. So she is basically all of us.

10. She’s slightly agoraphobic

Apparently that is one random fact that no one knows about her. Now you know.

11. She is very specific about her milk

Whenever Anderson orders coffee, she asks for whole milk to go with it. Always.

12. She gives some really good advice

Anderson states,

I guess I would say: above anything else, stay true to yourself. Whether that means for you that you like to have blue hair, or you don't like to drink, or you are attracted to the same sex, or you want to remove yourself from Facebook, or you've got 3 different kids from 3 different dads but you know you're a really good mom, or you cry for a week because your turtle died. Whatever your truth is, stay true to yourself. But be a good person while you're at it.

And this is why we love you, Scully. I mean, Gillian.
