'Game of Thrones' Books Michiel Huisman, But What Characters Will Be Joining Season 4?
Another Game of Thrones role cast and not another character learned. Michiel Huisman joins Joseph Gatt and Mark Gatiss in having an unknown role on the HBO show. You could always read the books to find out who will be on next season. Or you could take the shortcut and click through this slideshow... but be warned, spoilers lie ahead.
Magnar of Thenn
Okay, so technically Joseph Gatt's role hasn't been announced. But c'mon, this guy is so Magnar of Thenn. Styr, Magnar of Thenn is a wildling leader (those guys Jon Snow hung out with last season) who is a tall, lean, hairless guy with no ears — basically, he's a pretty scary dude. But definitely good at fighting, which may or may not come in handy for him next season...
Val and Dalla
These wildling women probably won't be high priority on the casting list (and might get cut from the season), but they're pretty important in the political world of Westeros. Dalla is the wife of Mance Rayder, the wildling leader, and dies giving birth to his child. Val is her sister, who sticks around to take care of the "wildling prince"... or does she (enter dramatic music)?
Mace Tyrell
Mace Tyrell is Margery's father (the ambitious queen with all the killer dresses), and British actor Roger Ashton-Griffiths is already cast in the part. Mace is pretty much a doddering old guy, so the casting is pretty on point. Not much going on here, except he totally annoys Cersei (the mean blonde lady) by getting in her way, so that's pretty funny.
Oberyn Martell
So now we're getting to the point where we get to see more of Dorne, a part of Westeros that's sort of a cross between the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Oberyn Martell, or "The Red Viper," is the younger brother of the Prince of Dorne, and Graceland actor Pedro Pascal has been cast in the role. Oberyn is hot headed, a dangerous fighter, and he gets a ton of people pregnant. Not only does Dorne have the unconventional law that women can inherit the throne, but Oberyn also keeps his bastard daughters with him at court. They're known around Westeros as the "Sand Snakes," and they're some dangerous ladies.
Ellaria Sand
Indira Varma has been cast in the role of Ellaria Sand, Oberyn's love interest. Ellaria is not regarded as the most conventionally attractive woman, but she is uniquely attractive, and she and Oberyn are both rumored to be bisexual. Other that, Ellaria isn't much of a notable character.
Euron and Victarion Greyjoy
Euron and Victarion are brothers of Balon Greyjoy(Lord of the Iron Islands, aka Theon's dad) (yes, the dad of the guy who got his penis cut off). They may or may not be important in this season, depending on how far into the books the show goes, but they're both pretty interesting characters. Victarion is very loyal and dutiful, and Euron is a huge asshole, so naturally they really hate each other.
Lady Greystone
Spoiler of all spoilers:
If this season is anything like the books, Michelle Fairley will return as Zombie Catelyn! It's unclear at this point, though, since Fairley has indicated that her contract with the show is up. But in a show that keeps this many secrets, who knows what's going to happen?
