Michael Phelps Heading to a Dramedy Near You

by Tanya Ghahremani

Here's one way to get on TV: Just tweet about how awesome your show of choice is! It worked for Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, who tweeted his love for USA's Suits late last month and scored a guest spot on the current season of the show as a result.

First off, the tweet, in all its simplicity. On July 30, Phelps posted his adorable love for the show, writing: "#suits season 3 is awesooommeee!!!" Oh, sweet, sweet child. I want to pat you on the head and give you a cookie.

Next: according to The Hollywood Reporter, USA soon noticed Phelps' tweet about the lawyer-centric series, and immediately offered him a spot in a third season episode of the show. It also doesn't seem like he'll need to exercise any acting chops — it'll only be a cameo role, and he'll play himself in an episode where Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Scottie (Abigail Spencer) try to convince him to be a client at their brand-new New York-based law firm, Pearson Specter. Adding drama to the situation: Phelps is the one client that Harvey could never land, so Harvey is determined to sign him this time.

No word yet on when we should expect Phelps' episode to air, but Suits is set to wrap up their first 10 episodes of Season 3 on Sept. 17, so it probably won't be for a while.

For the record, this isn't Phelps' first TV appearance — in 2008, he had a tiny little uncredited cameo in an episode of Entourage, in which he bumps into Kevin Connolly and says, like, one line. He was robbed of an Emmy, I tell you:
