Disney's 'Moana' Should Consider These 5 Actresses to Voice the Lead
Although Disney's Moana is still a few years away from its scheduled 2018 release date, it's not too early to think about who should be cast to voice Disney's fifth princess of color. The animated film supposedly tells the story of Moana Waialiki, a Polynesian girl who sets sail in the South Pacific in search of her family and the chief, who have all mysteriously vanished.
It’s great to see Disney making an effort to feature more culturally diverse characters, and it would help if they keep that theme in mind when they cast for the lead role. Here are five actresses who should be considered to play Moana.

Q'orianka Kilcher
Kilcher’s no stranger to portraying fierce female leads. She played the role of Pocahontas in 2005’s The New World, plus Hawaiian culture was a crucial part of her upbringing, not to mention Kilcher’s a really good singer.
Zendaya Coleman
Disney might as well keep it all in the family and cast Zendaya Coleman as the lead actress. Moana is described as a Polynesian musical and we already know Coleman has the acting and singing chops to pull it off.
Mindy Kaling
Kaling is an insanely funny actress who is also capable of helping us summon our fiercest innermost selves all while displaying an infectious amount of enthusiasm, and I’d love to see how she breathes life into Moana.
Kristina Anapau
It may sound like a leap for this True Blood actress to make the transition from vampires to a Disney princess, but Anapau’s Hawaiian background and experience with singing make her a great candidate for the role of Moana.
