Did He Really Get Married in Secret?
Take deep breaths, 1Ders. It’s going to be all right, I promise. I know because, if I’m honest, trying to figure out if Zayn Malick married Perrie Edwards in secret is now an everyday struggle for a 1Der. Hearts stopped this morning as we all saw the #zaynandperriearemarried on Twitter, and confused fans started adding to it with their crying emojis and tweets of "Why? Why Zayn?! Why?" We need to get better at handling this, 1Ders. First off, they’ve been engaged since last August, and naturally most engagements result in the inevitable wedding step. For another, well, news of the One Directioner and his Little Mix fiancée’s impending secret marriage happens as often as a Kardashian takes a selfie. Think of all of these false alarms we've had, like the most recent one in July when Malik scared everyone with that selfie of his ringed finger on Instagram. Sure, his spokesperson confirmed that it was Malik's engagement ring, but we all should take that moment as a practice fire drill of sorts to help us react properly for when the big day comes. They've been together since 2011, after all.
That day isn’t today. At least, I don’t think that Malik and Edwards are finally man and wife yet. Yes, despite the #zaynandperriearemarried drawn out hashtag, we're going to need something more concrete to make me think a secret wedding happened recently.
Judging by the Little Mix artist's Instagram post on Oct. 4, I would have to say that this is not her wedding dress.
Edwards told The Mirror that she had her wedding dress figured out in May, "I definitely want long sleeves. I know exactly what I want, so I’m designing it and getting it made from scratch.” This pic can't be a wedding dress, even though it is white.
Looking at the supposed groom's Instagram on the same day, maybe he wore a turtleneck instead of a tux?
I vote not because while this photo screams actor headshot from the 90's, I don't think even Malik would wear a turtleneck to his wedding. Though, I'll admit that there is a certain sparkle in his eye to make me believe he has some sort of secret he's not sharing.
Nah. The One Direction crooner posted about the last day of their tour the next day. When would he have had time to have a secret wedding?
But don't rest easy just yet, worried 1Ders, because according to Malik's mother, Tricia Malik, the wedding should be coming up. "Perrie is a lovely girl and I get on really well with her," she said. "They’re thinking of the end of next year, although no date has yet been set yet." This is from an interview last year, and if you haven't noticed, we're in October. It's practically the end of the year when mama Malik said to expect wedding bells.
Yet the biggest, most telling evidence supporting #zaynandperriearemarried would be if Journey got back together. Yes, that Journey. Hollywood Life reported last year that the One Directioner was trying to use his musical connections to bring Neal Schon back together with Steve Perry, who hasn't been with the band for more than 17 years. Apparently, "Don't Stop Believin'" is Edwards' favorite song, and Malik wants Journey to perform it at the ceremony.
So just know that if you hear that the original members of Journey are coming back together, hear the beginning strains of their most famous hit playing live somewhere in the UK, then know that mean Zayn Malik is officially marrying Perrie Edwards. For now, we'll have Twitter to fret over, but really, this all seems like a silly rumor.
