An Easy 'Mockingjay' Katniss Costume Only Requires Black Clothes, Wings, & a Badass 'Tude — PHOTOS
As the movies go on, it's getting increasingly harder to replicate Katniss's badass get ups. Because, ya know, we're not in the future or in Panem and we just don't have the same sort of resources. Case in point, this time, in Mockingay , the girl's in full body armor. And while that may be easy for the film's costume designer, if you want to make a Katniss Halloween costume, you don't exactly have those connections.
But, fear not. You can look just like Katniss, with a little spray paint, shopping around, and some creativity.

Movie Katniss
See? Much more doable. But, there’s a way to spice this up and have a happy medium between this and the poster version.

Shoulder Armor
Most easily and effectively done with knee pads. Adjust them so that they sit atop your shoulders to get Katniss’s soldier-esque look.

Pants
Keep it simple. Katniss’s pants are sort of cargo-looking, but that’s not where the attention of the costume is going to be focused. Save some money and wear one of your millions of pairs of black leggings stuffed in your drawers, or something like this if you somehow don’t own leggings.

Boots
Just about any black combat boot would do. If you don’t have any laying around in your closet, these lace up boots give a similar vibe.

Bow & Arrow
Because would it even be a Katniss costume without them? Grab one of your crossbody bags and throw these in them so that it’ll look like Katniss’s sling.

Spray paint
Most bows and arrows that are sold (cheaply, at least) don’t come in all black. So, if you want to be more authentic you can pick up a glossy black spray paint like this one.
