6 Ways To Dress Like Taylor Swift This Halloween

by Amy Sciarretto

If there's one celebrity who has blossomed and come into her red carpet own this year, it's Taylor Swift. Seriously. Taylor Swift's style and fashion sense have suddenly come to life, and she has been scoring style touchdowns at every event for the last year. You know what? I'd say she has been a fashion winner for the past two years, after she ditched some of her dowdier, Kennedy-esque ensembles in favor of wowza outfits that show off her legs and trim figure. Which is good news, because that means you can totally dress up like Taylor Swift for Halloween. It's a fun and versatile endeavor, and you can choose from a variety of options, from nautically casual to red carpet ready.

Swift, who has been known for her curls and then her bangs and then her red lipstick and then for not wearing red lipstick, is uniquely stylish, so why not be her for Halloween? Ditch your dude and ask your bestie to be your Halloween date. She can dress like Lorde for Halloween.

The good news is that most of T. Swizzle's signature looks — whether she's on the red carpet or on stage — are comprised of basics that are worth the spend and usable after October 31. Here are six different outfits to get you through the holiday (and beyond).

1. THE TAYLOR SWIFT BASICS

Skinny Jeans, $35, Old Navy; Red Keds, $40, Keds

A pair of skinnies that hit at the ankle and a striped boatneck top with long sleeves are the core of the look. Add a pair of Swift's signature red Keds, a super cool crossbody, a strand of pearls, and a crimson lipstick and you'll transform into Taylor Swift.

2. NAUTICAL TAYLOR SWIFT

Here's another Taylor Swift look that's instantly recognizable as... "her." Ready to copy it?

Clip-In-Bangs, $26, QVC; Red Lip Stick, $27, NARS

Nab high-waisted black shorts and a red and white striped top on the cheap, and then splurge on cute, crimson Oxfords, which are feminized by a ballet flat shape. Finish with a high pony, clip-in bangs and red, red lips.

3. RED CARPET READY

Swift was saucy in this winter mini last year. Wanna do it up in a similar style?

A bodycon mini in basic black can be turnt up with floral heels, which is the reverse of Swift's outfit, but just as cute. If you're going to be showing a lot of leg, then be sure to apply liberal amounts of body oil since you can't be Halloweening with pasty legs, unless you're going to be a zombie, but you're not. You're Taylor Swift, not Taylor-Swift-as-Zombie. Focus, ladies, focus! Gloss and go in pink.

4. "SHAKE IT OFF," HEPBURN-STYLE

Swift often rocks classic looks with a Taylor touch. Her simple black top and pants in the performance sequences in her "Shake It Off" video are totally Audrey Hepburn classic.

Black Quarter Sleeve Shirt, $54, Zappos

Chinos that hit at the ankle are the cornerstone of the look, followed by a three-quarter length sleeve top. The out-of-the-box element? The pointy ballet flats. Go on and get yourself a Halloween costume and a date night outfit, all in one.

5. COUNTRY CLASSIC

Classic Taylor Swift is pretty much cowgirl chic. Things have changed a lot with Swift in the last couple of years, but there's a lot to love about a retro T. Swift throwback costume, don't you think?

A good, sturdy pair of boots are an investment, and when paired with a femme and frilly dress, it's a fresh and fun style mix. Finish with big, shoulder duster costume earrings, pale pink lipstick, and a curly wig. Grab a fake guitar at a toy store, and expect fellow revelers to ask you to write songs about boys while hanging around the jack-o-lantern punch bowl with the fake spiders.

6. CROPPED AND CUTE

No one loves a cropped twinset more than Taylor Swift. You can grab a fall-ready version that you will wear more than once.

This long-sleeved version with a midi skirt will look Swiftian if you add some vintage-looking shoes and pinky-peach lipstick.

Take your pick of which Taylor Swift costume suits you. If you are a serious Halloween celebrator — or celebrateur — who has a full calendar consisting of multiple fetes, why not be Taylor Swift at every one, rocking a different look?
