Watch the 'Divergent' Trailer Channel 'Terminator'
We know what you're thinking: What am I going to do after The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out on Nov. 22? Well, we have your answer: Redirect all your obsessive attention to Divergent.
America's next YA obsession-turned-big screen release starring Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet hits theaters March 21 (just two days before The Hunger Games celebrates its one-year anniversary), but those anticipating the dystopian film got a sneak peek of Divergent at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. An expanded version of the 13-second clip released earlier in the week, the new Divergent trailer shows more Winslet than we've seen yet, and the Academy Award-winning actress proves to be an intimidating foe to Woodley's Tris. But the most notable quotable of the trailer? Theo James' Four telling a Woodley on the run, "If you want to survive, follow me." How very Terminator.
Based on the book by Veronica Roth about a teen in a future society who finds out she's a "Divergent" — a label used to describe someone who is unable to fit into any government-assigned personality group — Divergent taps into the teen dystopian trend, and, based on the reaction thus far, is likely to perform much better than other recent film fare directed at the age group. For once, a movie might actually earn the title of "The Next Hunger Games." Watch the trailer below!
