It's no secret that Jennifer Aniston's layered 'do dubbed "The Rachel" ruled Friends and the '90s as one of the biggest beauty influences of the decade. It became so famous, in fact, that it overshadowed every other character's equally covetable hairstyles, Monica included. And this did not go unnoticed. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Courteney Cox admitted she was jealous Jennifer Aniston's hairdo and how popular it became.
The truth came out after Cox reminisced about the celebrated sitcom with Kimmel, talking about how she would host screening parties at her house and that she "provided some good snacks." Kimmel followed up by asking Cox if she ever wondered why nobody wanted "The Monica." Cox answered by saying, "You know what? It kind of bums me out, why didn't they? We had the same hairdresser. I don't understand. I got nothing. I kept changing mine, like, 'If you don't like it I'll just keep doing it,’ and they never stuck!" FYI, Cox was referring to celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan, who still does Aniston's hair today (as well as a slew of other celebs including Kim Kardashian).
While it's no question that "The Rachel" was the most sought after hairstyle of the '90s, Monica's 'do was totally just as cute. In actuality, "The Monica" was probably requested a lot at salons across the country during the show's run. It was just the underdog of the Friends hairstyles.
Here are 9 photos to prove that "The Monica" was just as covetable as "The Rachel."

OK, so some of these are better than others, but good or bad, fans embraced Monica's style just as much as they did Rachel's. So, fret not, Courteney Cox — we loved you just the same!
