7 Times Their 'SIsterhood' Was a Real Life Thing
Ouch, right in the childhood! Or perhaps I should say yay, right in the childhood! Because just about every person who has ever been in a beloved preteen/teen film or show seems to want to get together for a semi-reunion these days — see Mean Girls reunion and Friends reunion — we should have seen this one coming. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, and America Ferrera had brunch and decided to take a selfie to commemorate the occasion, much to the delight of just about everyone who has ever seen those movies or read those books. Tamblyn, Lively, Bledel, and Ferrera never stopped being friends in the six years since they last starred in the movies together and, quite honestly, their real-life sisterhood is insanely adorable.
So while we'll never forget the intense, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and hilarious adventures that Carmen, Bridget, Lena, and Tibby all went through over the course of the summers those pants were traveling, we can at least warm our souls with the knowledge that their actors didn't really have to fake their onscreen chemistry. In fact, Tamblyn, Lively, Bledel, and Ferrera have done nothing but prove that their sisterhood is real, traveling pants or not.
1. They attended each other's weddings.
When Lively got married to Ryan Reynolds in 2012, she had Bledel, Tamblyn, and Ferrera in attendance. The same held true when Ferrera married Ryan Piers Williams and Tamblyn married David Cross. In fact, not only did the girls attend, but Ferrera spoke at Tamblyn's wedding and Lively helped her pick out the dress. Bledel had a private wedding, the guest list for which was small and private, but is it any wonder that I don't doubt Tamblyn, Lively, and Ferrera were there as well?
2. They also got married one right after the other.
Ferrera got the wedding ball rolling by getting married to Williams first in 2011. She was followed by Lively's marriage to Reynolds in 2012, Tamblyn's marriage to Cross one month later, and Bledel's engagement to Vincent Kartheiser in 2013. Bledel put off her actual wedding until 2014, but nothing says sisterhood like becoming married women all within the same half-decade.
3. Tamblyn and Ferrera went on double dates.
Tamblyn and Ferrera opened up in July 2014 about how they go on double dates all the time. In fact, according to Tamblyn, "Usually America and I [go] out first, eating and catching up and talking about existentialism and philosophy, and where we are in our lives. And that usually lasts about two hours. And then the dudes join up and they have been and then we talk about sports for ten minutes. And then America and I go back to being in love with each other."
4. They ambushed Tamblyn for her bachelorette party.
In a real life version of The Hangover, Tamblyn, Lively, Bledel, and Ferrera all took off on a vacation to New Orleans in 2013. Why? Because Tamblyn was getting married and the girls were determined to throw her a rocking bachelorette party. Lively apparently talked Tamblyn into coming to her house and Tamblyn found herself ambushed and taken to the airport for what was probably the best weekend of her life, as long as they didn't lock her on the roof.
5. They attend each other's movie premieres.
Nothing says friendship like showing up to support your girl at a movie premiere or a television upfront. And this real-life sisterhood always has each other's backs.
6. Tamblyn writes for Lively's website.
When Lively launched her oft-mocked lifestyle website — well, oft-mocked if you're Martha Stewart — we immediately found out that Tamblyn was one of the writers for Lively's website. In fact, Tamblyn's writer bio on Preserve reads, "she can also be seen sleeping over at Blake’s house and getting royally irritated at being woken up at 7am to try a batch of cupcakes Blake just made." Just in case you didn't think this was BFF-y enough.
7. They all signed up for a Sisterhood threequel.
It has been six years since the last Sisterhood movie came out and they're all at new stages in their lives — and yet they all signed on to come back and film another one together. If that doesn't scream real life sisterhood to you, then I don't know what else does.
