Meet Your New Royal Style Crush
Move over, K. Midds — I’ve just discovered a new royal style crush (but don’t go too far—you know you’re still my number one girl). Queen Letizia of Spain is the latest name on my monarchal fashion radar, and for good reason. She’s got elegant taste, a super-glam demeanor, and killer arms to show off in her chic sleeveless shifts (one of her go-tos).
I’m just disappointed I didn’t discover her sooner — I’ve been missing out on some serious lacey eye candy. She generally sticks to timeless silhouettes, classic materials and adopts a “less is more” fashion mantra, which is so underrated in the fashion community. Plus, she’s got the two things every royal woman needs to dress to impress — enviable poise and a very sparkly crown.
The best part about Queen Letizia? She was already a successful news anchor when she got engaged to her husband-to-be King Felipe in 2003. (A journalist?! There’s hope for me yet. I’m comin’ for ya, Prince Harry.) Beauty and brains. I like it.
Oh, and today she turns 42 years old. Don’t worry, Queen L. You don’t look a day over 39.
Here are some of our favorite looks Her Majesty has rocked.
This black lace-sleeved number was the perfect choice for an evening that included a bright yellow sash and a stunning tiara. (Am I going to look weird if I wear a black lace-sleeved dress with a yellow sash and a tiara?)
Is that…a crop top?! No, it is not, but it kind of looks like it at first glance, right? Note to self: to achieve a faux crop top look for those days when I had just one too many Oreos, a nude sash around the waist is the way to go.
Simple one-shouldered glamour. And those shoes.
I adore this out-of-the-ordinary LBD. The textured sleeves and bedazzled body give the dress a playful vibe.
How beautiful is Queen L in this perfectly feminine blush pink gown? I love the ethereal tone and girlish cap sleeves.
I give you: The modern queen. The crisp white is ultra chic, and the headband? Very Blair Waldorf.
Another winner, this dusty rose color looked gorgeous on the Queen, and she looks like she knows it, too. “Bitch, I’m fabulous.” (At least that’s what I imagine she said).
This is hands-down my favorite look on Queen Letezia. The sheen of the full skirt stands out from the simple top, and the blue sash fit for a royal looks like it was made for this ensemble. (Oh, and see her crown?! So sparkly.)
Her love of lace is apparent once again (you and me both, sister). The Bardot neckline adds another classic touch.
The color of this cocktail dress absolutely makes the piece. Gotta go, must shop for dark emerald articles of clothing just like this.
