American Idol has locked down Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban for next season's judges' table, but the search is far from over — a third seat still remains, and, unfortunately, the only person who could ever get me to watch that show again, Simon Cowell, is still too busy doing X Factor and causing scandals with his BFF's wife to fill it.
According to Deadline, though, producers may have actually found their star: Dr. Luke, who's a well-known songwriter/record producer in the industry, is said to be in talks to join the series. If you don't recognize his name right off the bat, that's OK — just trust me when I say that you've heard his work before. Dr. Luke was behind Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl," Marina and the Diamonds' "How to Be a Heartbreaker," and Britney Spears' "Hold it Against Me" ... just to name a few.
Basically, the guy creates radio hits left and right, so he's got some serious street cred in the industry. Though his name might not be recognizable to the general public right now, he's a big get for the show.
After all, Simon Cowell's name wasn't recognizable before Idol, either, and look how that turned out.
