Jill's New Husband Has a Pretty Random Resume

The world’s most fertile family is adding yet another member to their clan. The Duggars' 19 Kids and Counting are starting to have their own children, meaning that the Duggars are going to be around for a long, long time. Jill Duggar is Michelle’s fourth child in the bunch and on this season of 19 Kids and Counting, viewers will see Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard tie the knot and share their first kiss on national television. Now that Jill and Derick revealed they're expecting a baby we have to ask, what does Derick do? After all, he and Jill, who works as a midwife, might eventually have 19 kids of their own to support.

The couple met via Skype in August of last year. Jim Bob (the Duggar dad) had been in contact with Derick while he was in Nepal doing some missionary work. They began talking and when Derick came home, their quick courtship began.They got married in June and announced Jill's pregnancy to the family just 30 days after their marriage.

Now that Derick is officially part of the Duggar family, it’s important that you know a little bit about him and what he does, since he will probably appear on the show quite often from now on.

Derick works at Walmart

Now that he’s back in the states and has a family to provide for, Derick got a job earlier this year at Walmart. According to his LinkedIn page, his exact title is a Tax Accountant — Sales and Use Tax. As a journalist I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds kind of important. Also, if you really lover the Duggars for whatever reason, Jill has posted pics of them eating lunch together at Walmart, so head to Bentonville, Ark. for a little celeb sighting.

He was the mascot at his alma mater

After a little searching I discovered possibly my favorite Derick Dillard fact and that is, he was the mascot for two years at Oklahoma State University. Who knew that the mascot called Pistol Pete was destined to end up a part of the Duggar clan? Also, he’s not the first Dillard to be Pete. Dillard and his father are the only two family members to have both been the mascot at the college.

He spent two years in Asia

Derick is über religious like his wife so it’s really no surprise that he spent two years in Nepal building churches and spreading the word of God. The International Mission Board is headed by the baptist community and is how Jim Bob met Dillard. Jill said in a statement about her engagement to Dillard, "I love Derick's desire to follow God and to serve others.”

He was a swim instructor & pool manager

Before all of that though, Derick was all about those summers at the local pool in Rogers, Ark. He was a pool manager, lifeguard, and swimming instructor in high school and when he came home from Oklahoma during the summers.
