Not long after a source at E! News revealed that legendary comedian Joan Rivers is "on the road to recovery" after being brought out of a medically induced coma this past weekend, Rivers' daughter Melissa Rivers has released a new statement thanking fans for their continued support, and giving an update on her mother's condition.
The statement, which was obtained by NBC News, reads:
On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received. At this time she does remain on life support...I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers.
Rivers was reportedly placed on life support by doctors at Mount Sinai hospital in NYC this past weekend, after she went into cardiac arrest during a minor throat procedure last week. Previously, Melissa has released statements also thanking fans for their prayers and support, and E! has also reported that she "is a rock" for her family and friends standing vigil at Rivers' bedside. "She is her mother's daughter and she's tough as nails. She's the person keeping everyone together."
We will continue with updates as the story develops.
