Some people get tased for art; others kiss people. Ladies and gents, prepare to meet photo and video project “Kiss Someone You Love,” AKA your daily dose of cuteness. All together now: Awwwwwww!
Here’s how it went down: Producer Matt Adams and photographer Katie Sokoler brought a bunch of colorful picture frames and a camera crew to McCarren Park in Brooklyn. They invited anyone and everyone who passed them by to pose for a professional photo shot by Sokoler with one of the frames — with the only requirement being that they had to kiss someone who was in the frame with them.
I think my favorite part is the variety of who (or what, in some cases) people chose to kiss. Sure, for some it was there significant other; for others, though, it was their child, their BFF, their dog, or whatever. Adorable, no? I mean, yes, it’s a little silly and fluffy — but it also kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, doesn’t it? You can check out all the “Kiss Someone You Love” photos Sokoler snapped over the course of the day here; and below, watch the whole thing in action. It’s super cute. I promise.
“Kiss Someone You Love,” by the way, doesn’t exist in a vacuum; it’s the final installment of a larger project called Someone You Love. A three-part film and photo series that’s been going on over the past few months, Someone You Love “aims to bring New Yorkers together by engaging them in positive activities in unexpected places.” Previous installments include “Call Someone You Love”:
And “Write Someone You Love”:
I’ll be honest: I would have had a little trouble participating in “Call Someone You Love,” because constantly using a cellphone for so many years means that I am incapable of storing more than two phone numbers in my actual brain (one of which is my own). But I still love the idea. The world can be an unfriendly place so much of the time, so sometimes, it’s just sort of nice to take a minute and reconnect, no matter how goofy the method of connection is. In fact, let’s give it bonus points for being extra goofy, because we can all use a little silliness every now and again.
The Hamptons version, of course, would be "Rosé Someone You Love." What better way to show someone you care than by gifting them a bottle of pink wine when you don't know where the next one will come from?
