She's Back...
American Idol may have a different producer on board, but it seems Season 13 is taking a page from the last few seasons of the reality singing series. After Fox announced in early August that Season 12 judge Keith Urban would in fact be returning for next season, sources are confirming that Jennifer Lopez — a judge during Idol's 10th and 11th season — is coming back for a third stint on the panel.
On Friday, during an interview with E! Online, Lopez's boyfriend, Casper Smart, told reporters that rumors that the "Dance Again" singer would be returning to Idol were true. And, on Saturday, sources confirmed to Us Weekly that a deal with Lopez has indeed been locked in. (Fox has yet to respond to Bustle's request for confirmation.)
Fox has yet to announce the news itself, but it seems Idol 's new executive producer, Per Blankens, is still looking for star power on the reality series' judging panel. Though, prior to Blankens boarding Idol, rumors swirled that the series would cater to hardcore fans by recruiting alums like Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert, the series appears to be trying to restore higher ratings experienced during the 10th star-studded season of the show.
Now, if only Idol could get original judge (and new baby daddy) Simon Cowell back on board.
