Katy's Dating Life Is Confusing

Whoa, whoa, whoa, what's going on here? It was just this past Sunday that Katy Perry appeared to be dating Riff Raff when they attended the VMAs together, and now it's being reported that Katy Perry and Diplo were dancing at Seth Meyers' Emmys after-party. This is like the eccentric musicians version of the ninth grade. (Sorry, Seth, you don't exactly fix into this analogy.) I'm totally willing to give into the high school gossip vibe of this whole thing and that means I have one important question: What happened to Riff Raff?!

According to a source who spoke with Us Weekly, Perry and Diplo were "super cute together" and "kept grabbing each other's hands and Diplo kept pulling Katy in." Diplo and Perry were first reported to be dating back in April, and in June they posted some suspicious hammock photos that very strongly hinted they were on vacation in Jamaica together. Since then, there hasn't been much talk of Perry and Diplo.

Enter Riff Raff.

Don't get me wrong, when the news came out in March (yes, before the Diplo dating reports) that Riff Raff and Katy Perry had gone on a date, I was not on board with this relationship. He makes weird music, and he looks like he would feel sticky to the touch and smell like Bud Light and weed. Luckily, it seemed like neither of them were taking the dating thing very seriously, and it turned out that they were probably just working on their collaboration on "This Is How We Do" which was recently released.

Then on Sunday, they attended the VMAs together and, while it seemed like they were still just messing around and having fun, I wondered if maybe they really were dating. Sure, they joked about having kids together in a way that said, "Hey, we're just goofy people in silly denim formalwear!" but what if they were doing this to distract from the fact that they really are dating?

In a video taken by TMZ of the pair after the VMAs, Perry and Raff seem really happy together. Yes, they're an odd match, but they really grew on me. But it looks like now Diplo, a much more...er, conservative person is back in the picture, so I guess the Kat-Raff days are over. Welcome back, Katlo. I hope you brought more secret vacation mysteries with you.
