Who Is Zooey Deschanel's New Boyfriend?
Update: On Tuesday, Jan. 13, Zooey Deschanel confirmed to People that she and Jacob Pechenik are expecting a baby. Congrats! You know things are serious when you make a red carpet appearance together. New Girl star Zooey Deschanel attended the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday night, along with her new boyfriend, Jacob Pechenik. The actress looked gorgeous in her bright pink Oscar de la Renta strapless dress, but it was the dude happily escorting her down the red carpet that caught everyone's attention. After all, you don't just bring anyone to television's biggest night of the year, if you know what I'm saying?
In 2009, Deschanel married to Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service frontman, Ben Gibbard, but the couple sadly divorced a short while later in 2012. Although their relationship was short-lived, Deschanel has only been loosely linked to a few men since separating from Gibbard — We Are Marshall screenwriter, Jamie Linden, for one — but she appears to be most serious post-divorce thus far with Pechenik. (Hence, her bringing him to the Emmys on Sunday.)
So, who the heck is this guy? Where did he come from? What is he into (besides Zooey)? And will these two crazy kids last? Lucky for you, I did a little digging around the Internet and found out everything you need to know. Here, six things to know about Jacob Pechenik.
He's a producer
Deschanel and Pechenik apparently met on the set of their latest film, Rock the Kasbah , which also stars Bill Murray, Danny McBride, and Bruce Willis. Pechenik also was an executive producer on Before Midnight.
He's not shy when it comes to PDAs
A few weeks ago, Deschanel and Pechenik were spotted hiking together in Los Angeles. And when I say "hiking," I really mean "having a makeout sesh."
He's not afraid to mix business with pleasure
Like I said, Deschanel and Pechenik met on the set of a movie she was acting in and he was producing. But the two apparently started dating — and k-i-s-s-i-n-g — while still on set! Scandalous!
He looks good in a suit
Case in point. Need I say more?
Dude's got zero social media presence
In my effort to stalk Pechenik, I discovered that the man has nary a Twitter or Instagram account on the web. Respect, but kind of makes stalking a wee bit more difficult.
Thus far, he's got eight movies coming out this year
Eight, people. That's a lot. And if that doesn't impress you, try this on for size: last year he had 10. Somebody's not turning their producer's guild card in any time soon.
