At the 2014 Emmy Awards, Red, White, and Blue Are Ruling the Red Carpet
The 2014 Emmys red carpet is already in full swing and delivering any number of surprising looks, from Robin Wright's open-back Ralph Lauren jumpsuit to Lena Dunham's tulle-filled ombre skirt. And while red-carpet surprises are always a treat, there was one trend I certainly wasn't expecting to see during the annual Emmy Awards: a string of red, white, and blue looks that, when put together, are undeniably patriotic. See which stars celebrated Independence Day a little late this year by clicking through the red, white, and blue looks from the evening's red carpet.
Laverne Cox
Thank God she got this amazing look in before Labor Day.
Edie Falco
You’re still lookin’ good, Mrs. Soprano.
Heidi Klum
Because coral is basically red, right?
Taylor Schilling
Its innocent white hue does nothing to take away from how slinky and sexy this number truly is.
Mayim Bialik
Just try and tell me this look wouldn’t fit in at a 19th-century inaugural ball.
Sarah Hyland
Strap a blue bracelet or heel on her, and she’s ready for the next Fourth of July cookout.
Natasha Lyonne
Seriously, how adorable is that that little flared hem?
Minnie Driver
There aren’t too many stars out there who could look that good in this gown.
Anna Gunn
Crystal clusters and a thigh-baring slit are all it takes to look great these days.
Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting
When Valentine’s Day rolls around, I know whose closet I’m raiding.
Michelle Monaghan
Sometimes simplicity is all you need.
Keke Palmer
Two words: Damn, girl.
January Jones
The Mad Men star lives by the phrase, “Go big or go home.”
Anna Chlumsky
Who wore the plain white gown better: Chlumsky, Cox, or Monaghan?
Christine Baranski
Now that’s a cape done right.
Christina Hendricks
Another Mad Men star, another red gown on the red carpet.
Camilla Alves
Mrs. McConaughey is certainly looking more than just alright, alright, alright in this gown.
Melissa Rauch
Sometimes less really is more.
Octavia Spencer
Talk about waist-cinching perfection.
Kate Mara
Her gown is gorgeous and her hair is even better. Enough said.
Alicia Quarles
There may be a lot going on in this dress, but I think that's a good thing.
Mindy Kaling
This could very well be the hottest thing I’ve ever seen Kaling sport.
Sofia Vergara
Who would’ve thought: Vergara in a body-hugging, strapless gown.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
A classic red gown is the perfect pick for a VP, if I may say so myself.
Danielle Brooks
Even without that laser-cut neckline, this is one super-feminine number.
Claire Danes
There’s nothing I love more right now than the Homeland star in this fabulous ensemble.
Kristen Wiig
I have to hand it to her: Pulling off a skin-tight, white satin dress cannot be easy.
Uzo Aduba
Strike that pose, hot mama.
Julianne Hough
Is it just me, or is this look much more high fashion than what Hough usually opts for? (No complaints here.)
Louise Roe
This is what you called a "one-sided wonder."
Angela Bassett
Loving that major gold belt.
