As an important addition to tonight's Video Music Awards, MTV decided to air a PSA about Ferguson during the show. Tying into this, Common acknowledged the need for awareness and asked for a moment of silence for Mike Brown before presenting the award for "Best Hip-Hop Video." He said, "Hip-hop has always been about truth and has always been a powerful instrument of social change. Hip-hop has always presented a voice for the revolution." This moment was definitely touching, yet it seems like not everyone thought so. According to some screen grabs, a few of the Kardashians were texting during that silence.
Yup, believe it or not, there is supposedly photographic evidence that Kylie Jenner may have been checking her phone screen during this touching tribute. Whoever was sitting next to her was doing the same. It's possible, however, that because of MTV's 30 second delay, they weren't texting, but from the footage it looks like it. And if so, maybe she was busy playing the Kim Kardashian Hollywood game? But come on, there are no excuses for such disrespect. They should definitely be ashamed of themselves if this is true. Can't you break away from your phone for a few minutes? That kind of defeats the purpose of "moment of silence."
If you need to see it to believe it, check out the photo below, which shows a split screen of the Kardash krew and Common speaking:
Can't wait to see how momager Kris Jenner tries to make amends for this... I really doubt there is an acceptable explanation.
