'Lovelace' Star Amanda Seyfried Has A Lot of Thoughts About Porn
In the upcoming biopic Lovelace, Amanda Seyfried has taken on her edgiest role yet as porn star-turned-anti-porn activist Linda Lovelace. As expected, Seyfried has had the opportunity to talk about her own personal experiences and feelings about the porn industry... which is great, because it seems that there are no barriers when it comes to what Seyfried will talk about. Here's what the former Mean Girls star had to say about the subject. (Hint: She says a lot.)
She thinks porn is boring.
Though Lovelace became famous for starring in Deep Throat, the first pornographic film to have an actual plot, Seyfried isn't too impressed with porn. In fact, she finds it sort of... boring. Or was she just watching Les Misérables?
She has an epic porn star name.
Take the name of your first pet, and then add the name of the street you grew up on, and, boom, that's your porn star name. So, what's Seyfried's? According to her interview with GQ, had Seyfried went down a different acting path, her name could have been Bad Pussy St. Cloud. Umm, no comment.
She doesn't think porn should be banned.
When asked about the recent ban on porn in the UK, Seyfried replied, "You can't put a ban on it... I mean, kids under age are still drinking. It just makes it that much more powerful. It's freedom. You should be free to watch it whenever you want."
She watched her first porn at age six.
Hey, here's some disturbing imagery for you. Though she's playing a porn star, Seyfried had a terrible first experience with porn... as a viewer. And she's not afraid to talk about it, though we kind of wish she was. "I was five or six. Six, I think... It was the first time I’ve ever seen a penis, and I remember it being very graphic ... it was so terrifying... It was funny. But it was also, like, so, so, so wrong.” Obviously, the exposure to the film was accidental, but it didn't give Seyfried a good impression.
She's not shy about all that nudity... or so she says.
Though many actresses refuse to go nude on camera, Seyfried doesn't see what all of the fuss is about. "You don't think too much about it. It's a costume really. It's just a naked body. I mean, in America it's something, but most other places in the world, it's just a naked body. We all look the same." But apparently that belief didn't stop her from refusing to do full-frontal nudity in Lovelace. According to reports, Seyfried still wanted to "save something for her husband."
She didn't enjoy Lovelace's famous flick.
Deep Throat made Lovelace a porn legend, but the actress playing her could only stomach 15 minutes of the film. According to Seyfried, she felt uncomfortable knowing that Lovelace didn't really want to be a part of the production. Good thing that exact topic makes a great biopic.
