Robin Williams' Dies Shockingly & Suddenly But He'll Be Remembered With These Quotes
The world received some tragic and shocking news on Monday evening when it was reported that Robin Williams died at age 63. According to a statement from Williams' rep, "Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."
Of course, the news is upsetting to anyone who's witnessed Williams' decades-long career or seen his movies — so, pretty much everyone. It's unclear what Williams' cause of death was at this point, so instead of speculating, I say we look back at some of Williams' best moments and celebrate his life, his humor, and his words. Here are some of the beloved actor's best quotes.
On What Comedy Means to Him
On the Power of Comedy
On Making the Right Decisions
“What’s right is what’s left if you do everything else wrong.”
On Being an Actor
During his Academy Award speech for Best Supporting Actor in Good Will Hunting, Williams said, “Most of all, I want to thank my father, up there, the man who, when I said I wanted to be an actor, he said, ‘Wonderful, just have a backup profession, like welding.’”
On Maintaining a Sense of Wonder
“My children give me a great sense of wonder. Just to see them develop into these extraordinary human beings. And a favorite book as a child? Growing up, it was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe — I would read the whole C.S. Lewis series out loud to my kids. I was once reading to Zelda, and she said 'Don’t do any voices. Just read it as yourself.' So I did, I just read it straight, and she said ‘That’s better.’”
