No matter what the question is, bacon is always the answer. Why is the sky blue? Bacon. What time is it? Bacon. How is the world going to end? Bacon. But you know what? Sometimes plain ol’ bacon isn’t enough. Luckily, now there’s something for those times when regular bacon falls short of the mark: Elvis Bacon.
The creation of Dude Foods, Elvis Bacon is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: All of Elvis Presley’s favorite (and terrible for you) foods in one delicious mouthful. It consists of peanut butter-glazed bacon sprinkled with freeze-dried banana pieces, making it essentially an Elvis Sandwich minus the bread. Not only that, but it’s easy to DIY, too — Dude Foods’ mastermind, Nick Chipman, made his glaze out of powdered sugar, creamy peanut butter, milk, and a bit of vanilla. Cook your bacon in the oven so it gets all crispy and glaze it as soon as it comes out. Head on over to Dude Foods for the complete how-to.
Isai Rocha over at Foodbeast suggests that these kicked-up strips “could make for some next-level bacon cheeseburgers, or breakfast burritos”; I’d also like to add killer bacon pancakes, cupcakes, and whoopie pies to the mix. You could even put it on an actual Elvis Sandwich, which I'm pretty sure would make the Inception version of itself. Oh, and while we’re on the subject, why not give these other Elvis-inspired recipes a spin? If we’re going to be consuming this much bacon, peanut butter, and banana in one sitting, we may as well go all out.
