Don't Mess with the Kardashians
It goes without saying that the Kardashian-Jenner family looks out for one another absolutely. Sure, they might not always be kind to one another, but they're allowed to do that because they're family. For example, it's all right for Kim Kardashian to say that Khloe Kardashian is dating 50 rappers on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but I wouldn't advise anyone else to poke fun at Khloe or her relationships. So when Adrienne Bailon gave a tell-all interview to Latina magazine during which she spoke openly about her relationship with Rob Kardashian, she was really poking a bee's hive. Accordingly, Kim Kardashian slammed Adrienne Bailon for having the nerve to put down her brother during an already difficult period in his life.
Rob Kardashian has truly been struggling in 2014. In the aftermath of his 2012 break up with Rita Ora, Rob has been determined to try to lose the unexpected weight that he gained, a journey that wasn't helped by the amount of fat shaming Rob faced when the public saw his new size. He skipped Kim Kardashian's wedding, cleared out his Twitter, and has been mainly discussing his gym visits and training schedules ever since. According to Bailon's Latina interview, her relationship with Rob hasn't exactly left her all sunshine and roses.
"To be stuck with that Kardashian label, that was so hurtful to me and to my career," she said. "I probably realized that too late— not that it would’ve affected my decisions in terms of who I dated, but it would’ve affected my decision to appear on the show. At the time, I didn’t think anyone would even care. To this day, people will still say, ‘You ruined Rob’s life!’ and I’ll think, Damn, I was still playing with Barbie dolls when I met him."
Kim resented just about every part of Bailon's comments and wasn't shy about jumping on Twitter to let the world know about it.
Kim wasn't the only member of the Kardashian family who was angry with Bailon for choosing now to air her dirty laundry about Rob. After all, Bailon even went so far as to discuss the pain of dealing with Rob cheating on her and the public scrutiny that brought to her. "He strategically planned things out so that he could cheat on me," she claimed. "And that was so disloyal."
Khloe not only confirmed that Kim was, indeed, throwing shade at Bailon for her interview, but also threw some shade of her own.
Ultimately, Bailon has a right to feel the way that she feels, especially concerning the bad terms that she and Rob parted on, but she did essentially choose the worst time to air these concerns to the world. Rob has been flying largely under the radar by his own choice as he deals with personal issues, so Bailon's comments do come across as kicking him while he's down. Attacking any member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan is usually a recipe for disaster and an invitation for the rest of them to come after you, but attacking one of them at a weak point in their life kicks the consequences up to ten thousand.
It might be too early to use the word feud to describe the friction that now exists between Bailon and Kim and Khloe Kardashian, but, then again, Bailon has yet to respond to Kim's tweets.
