Monday night's The Bachelorette: Men Tell All episode pulled a lot of stunts to keep the show interesting, but left one of the more dramatic things to the show's credits. Usually, the credit roll slot is reserved for some type of blooper so that fans whose DVR didn't record that far, or who didn't know they were supposed to keep watching, don't miss anything big. But on Monday night, if you turned off the TV early, you did miss something big because Andi Dorfman got a note from one of her two final men and it looked pretty serious.
“Between you and I, you should read it," Chris Harrison said in a grave tone, handing the folded piece of notebook paper to Bachelorette Andi.
Sure, this is a show that dedicated its two hours to weird live ultrasounds and speed dates with audience members, but this seemingly very important note was relegated to a few seconds at the end of the show.
Don't worry though, it's probably nothing. On Sean Lowe's season, winner Catherine Guidici wrote him a note that got some sinister music during the finale promos, but turned out to be a lovey-dovey, sugar sweet note.
But since ABC spent zero time speculating what the deal with the note is, I've come up with a few of my own theories.
IT WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF THE SEX AND THE CITY POST IT
Okay, so I'm a little confused on my timelines here. Usually the Men Tell All is taped after the whole season has wrapped so Andi would have already picked her man. In that case, if the note was truly given to her during the Men Tell All, it could even possibly be a letter dumping Andi ahead of the "After the Final Rose" taping.
Hey, if it can happen to Carrie Bradshaw it can happen to anyone.
IT WAS A REQUEST FROM THE RUNNER UP TO CHANGE HER MIND
Remember when Jason Mesnick re-gifted his final rose to Molly instead of Melissa on the After the Final Rose special? Perhaps the second place man is simply asking that Andi consider pulling a similar move.
JOSH WROTE IT TO ADDRESS HIS LIE DETECTOR LIES
Chris Harrison revealed Monday that Josh Murray lied twice on the lie detector test he took in Italy. But Andi declined to read what he'd lied about because he wasn't there to defend himself. Perhaps the show's producers let Josh know what was going on and he thought it was best to fess up in his own words, so the letter is explaining what he lied about.
Maybe he fibbed about being ready for marriage and that's why Chris Harrison was so serious about Andi needing to read it. Or maybe Josh lied about stupid things and Harrison wanted her to read it to set her mind at ease.
If Twitter is any indication, his false statements were nothing to sweat. (Unless he was lying on Twitter! Oh, the drama of it all.)
IT'S ANOTHER PAGE FROM NICK'S FAIRY TALE
Though the show clearly wants us to believe the letter was handed to her at the Men Tell All, Andi's wearing a different dress than she did on Monday's show. So it's quite possible the letter did come before the proposal.
In that case, maybe it was written by Nick Viall. After all, he did give Andi a hand-drawn and hand-written book. Based off their own fairy tale adventure, in the story Nick wins over Princess Andi's heart and they make sweet, sweet love in the fantasy suite. (I wish I were making this up.) But Nick left the ending blank on purpose, so maybe this letter is a drawing of Nick on one knee proposing to Princess Andi? I wouldn't be surprised.
IT WAS FROM JOSH REMINDING ANDI HOW HE FEELS ABOUT HER
Andi seems to forget every week that Josh said he loves her because she's constantly second guessing him. Maybe the note was a love letter from Josh reminding Andi not to stereotype him because he may have been a ball player, but he's not a player player. (But he is a bit into antiqauted gender roles.)
IT'S NICK TRYING TO STEAL CHRIS' SECRET ADMIRER THING
Remember way back in like week two when Nick sent Andi a bouquet of flowers to charm her? If you don't remember it's probably because in the ensuing weeks, Chris Soules upstaged the flower effort with his whole secret admirer thing. Not one to be outdone, Nick is now attempting to regain control of the "nice guy" image and sent Andi a sweet note from her new secret admirer.
But as much as it would liven up the season to have it be a sinister note, more likely the drama is the work of editing and it's actually an innocuous love letter. Yawn.
