This is so sad. Just over a year after Glee star Cory Monteith was tragically found dead in a Vancouver hotel room at the age of 31, Cory Monteith's mother is speaking out about her son's death. In an interview with Good Morning America, Monteith's mother, Ann McGregor, revealed that Monteith had been considering moving away from Hollywood to get out of the spotlight just before his death.
"I think he was easing himself out of [Hollywood]," McGregor said, adding that Monteith had been considering leasing a home in Vancouver "two days" before his tragic death.
McGregor also added that she still keeps in touch with Monteith's girlfriend and his Glee co-star Lea Michele, saying that Michele is "hurting too" following their loss. "She texts me and emails me...you see the sadness. I know her pain."
Monteith, as previously reported, was determined to have passed away of a drug overdose, and had long struggled with addiction throughout his life.
As for how McGregor is dealing with the loss of her son a year later, she admits: "Until three days ago I couldn't look at a picture of Cory." She added, "I don't think we have power to change the choices they're making. I think with the kind of connection Cory and I had, if we couldn't prevent that situation, I don't have the answer...what could I say to them? Live every moment. Grab the second."
