TIME just released a list of Twitter's 50 smartest celebrities and you will not believe who made it on there. Sure people like Leonardo DiCaprio topped it, but so did Justin Bieber's mom and JWoww from Jersey Shore. I know, right? Like where was Neil deGrasse Tyson or Bill Nye or MENSA member Steve Martin or actual doctorate of neuroscience Mayim Bialek?
In all likelihood, the algorithm that figured out the smartest celebs was faulty. TIME used a test that "measures the number of three-syllable words used in the text of a tweet to calculate the years of education required to understand it." So maybe the actual smart celebs just aren't tweeting three-syllable words, or they didn't fall in the top 500 most-followed category, which is all that TIME tested. Either way, the results are less than encouraging, especially when you consider that DiCaprio apparently tweets at a seventh grade level and is number one on the list.
The results get even funnier when you consider the absolutely idiotic tweets the top 10 smartest celebs have made over the lifetime of their accounts. Since you're only as intelligent as your dumbest tweet, here's a list of all the weirdest, least educational things said by the top 10 most intelligent celebrity tweeters.
1. LEONARDO DICAPRIO
DiCaprio actually totally deserves being on this list. I couldn't find a single dumb tweet. He mostly talks about saving the ocean and elephants. So congrats to Leo. He may have a seventh grade Twitter intelligence, but at least he's using it for the betterment of the environment.
2. PATTIE MALLETTE
But Justin Bieber's mother is a little less environmentally inclined.
3. JIMMY KIMMEL
Smartest? More like Most Random.
4. LUDACRIS
He loves to tweet strange pictures and comment on them, but I don't know if I would equate that to being smart.
5. GREEN DAY
Complaining about a social media platform on a different social media platform is very intelligent, don't you know.
