So, now that we've got the nominations (which were, sadly, without Orphan Black and with a bit of a diversity problem), the question is begged: When exactly are the 2014 Emmy Awards airing? Well, luckily, the date isn't that far off — the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards will air on August 25, at 8 PM on NBC. Late Night host Seth Meyers is hosting the show too, so, considering his special brand of humor (see: SNL's Weekend Update) expect it to not suck as much as awards shows occasionally can.
Weirdly, the chosen date of August 25 is actually a Monday, despite awards shows generally being held on Sunday nights — so make sure to plan accordingly.
If you missed it, the nominations weren't exactly anything surprising — though they did give nods to the shows and actors that were expected to receive them. Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective, and Mad Men were all given nominations, while the best actors in shows with more disappointing seasons (i.e. Mandy Patinkin in last season of Homeland) were acknowledged for their work as well. The only glaring absence was really Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black, but if I go more into that now, this article will just devolve into a rant about how perfect Maslany is and how the Emmys know even less than Jon Snow, or something.
Anyway! Emmy countdown to August 25 starts...now.
