JULY 3, 1:50PM: FOX has confirmed to Bustle that Chris Colfer's Twitter was indeed hacked, and that he would return for Season 6 of the series. Said the network in a statement: "We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s twitter account has been hacked. Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season."
JULY 3, 1:33PM: According to the actor's manager, via The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Colfer has not been "let go" from Glee . Blaming the announcement on a Twitter hack, Colfer's rep claims he will be appearing on Season 6, the final season of the popular musical series.
JULY 3, 1:16PM: This is shocking. According to a new tweet posted by the actor himself, Chris Colfer has been "let go" from Glee for "personal issues." The producers of the series have yet to release a comment about the sudden decision, but Colfer added in his tweet that an "explanation" for his departure will come shortly.
The announcement basically comes out of nowhere, to say the least — there hasn't even been a single rumor or whisper that there were any conflicts between the network, the series, and Colfer, so if this was a planned firing or a mutual decision in the works for a while, it was pretty much the best kept secret in Hollywood.
Also, noting the fact that Colfer used the term "let go" to describe his leaving the show as opposed to saying that he won't continue to appear in the series points to possible drama between the star and the network. Or, perhaps, between the star and the the production team? It's really anyone's guess, at this point — for the reason and what will happen to the show next season with one if its principal cast members inexplicably gone.
