'Fast & Furious 7' Faces Another Scheduling Change

by Tanya Ghahremani

Even more scheduling and production changes have hit the upcoming Fast & Furious film — but, this time, it's actually good news for once: According to EW, the anticipated release date of Fast & Furious 7 has been moved up a full week, and the film will now hit theaters on April 3, 2015 rather than April 10, 2015 as originally planned.

Universal gave no particular reason for the sudden switch, though EW points out that the release date of April 3 makes sense for the film because The Longest Ride — a Nicholas Sparks film, a.k.a., not targeting the same demographic — is its only competition. It's too early to say if the film would have had any competitors on the 10th, but hey, this works.

As previously reported, the tragic death of Paul Walker late last year rocked production of this project: The film was originally set to hit theaters this month before the actor was killed in a shocking car crash last November. To accommodate reshoots, the release date was moved to next April, and Walker's brothers were enlisted as stand-ins for their late brother's character, Brian O'Conner.

Returning cast members (apart from Walker) include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, and Tyrese Gibson.
