Fourth of July weekend is right around the corner, which means there’s a ton of food, fun, and fireworks in our very near future. But this holiday represents much more than excessive snacking and an extra day off — though those are certainly great perks. It’s also about celebrating America’s independence. And what better way to honor the Fourth of July than by looking to TV’s greatest female characters who have helped us all embrace our own inner-independence in one way or another?
From quick-witted press secretaries to the true Mother of Dragons, these ladies have taught us much in the ways of self-liberation and will continue to do so for generations to come. Every single one of these women are one-of-a-kind and wise beyond measure. (We could all do well to take a few pages out of their books.) So while we’re busy stuffing our faces with delicious cookout food and relishing in the glory of a three-day weekend (as we so rightfully should), let’s be sure to keep these fabulous females in mind and remember the key ingredients that have made them so fiercely independent — our own Declaration of Independence recipe, if you will. It’s what the Founding Fathers would’ve wanted, after all.
