There are a lot of things I love about the summer: Picnics, long bike rides, free concerts, beach time, pool time, summer reading… all of that is magnificent. What I don’t love, however, are the soaring temperatures. Seriously — I dig good weather as much as the next gal, but my ideal summer climate never tops 75 degrees with 20 percent humidity. But no matter how hot it is, at least I’m not covered in fur, right? Not like my two cats — and not like the 13 fuzzy felines seen here. If I wasn’t fairly certain that most of them would break out the claws in response, I would totally set up a sprinkler or a paddling pool for them to run through.
A cat’s normal body temperature is generally higher than that of a human; since felines measure in on average at about 101.5 degrees, they can tolerate higher temperatures than we can (as long as they have access to water). That said, though, they still seek out ways to keep cool in the hotter summer months — which can result in some pretty hilarious photographs. Whether they’re curling up in unexpected places or sprawling out on the coolest part of the floor, we can’t get enough of these adorable cats.
On a more serious note, The Guardian published a piece a few years ago with a lot of great tips for keeping your pets healthy when it’s hot out, so head on over there to check it out; obviously if your cat is displaying signs of heat stroke, you should get him or her to the vet as soon as possible. Just, y’know… something to watch out for.
These guys are fine, though — they’re just being melodramatic. All together now: Awwww!

This one looks just like one of my cats. Mine likes to sprawl like this even when it’s not hot out, but oh man. Don’t you just want to go over there and rub that belly?
10. Shadow Cats
Step 1: Find shadiest location available. Step 2: ? Step 3: Profit.
