Li Bingbing's Best 'Transformers' Looks
I think it's safe to say that no one's exactly counting down the days until Transformers: Age of Extinction. After all, it's the fourth movie in a mediocre franchise that everyone wanted to forget about after Dark of the Moon anyways. Heck, even Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen only got a 19% on aggregate review site Rotten Tomatoes. And get this: It's actually a reboot/start of a new trilogy, a la Star Wars (except not). Who knows? Maybe going Shia-less (and continuing to go Megan Fox-less) will give the new movie the shake-up it needs.
Be it a successful reboot or a flop, at least the tired franchise film has one saving grace: International star Li Bingbing (actually, make that two, what with style-crush-in-the-making Nicola Peltz also hitting the red carpet). I'm not personally acquainted with Bingbing's work in films (she's primarily worked in China, with a few stateside appearances like Resident Evil: Retribution and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which was adapted from a work by Chinese-American novelist, Lisa See) — but even so, Bingbing's metier in fashion has always been on the radar, and she is pulling out all the stops for her recent promotion of Transformers: Age of Extinction.
The tour kicked off in Hong Kong, where Li went daring in Stéphane Rolland:
Graphic black and white, with a sheer skirt and a sort of hip-chandelier thingamabob is certainly a hard look to pull off, and Li's doing pretty darn admirably. That skirt? Wow.
Next, she wore some kickass Zuhair Murad at the Hong Kong photocall:
It's edgy, it's classy, it's fun. And anything even remotely armor-adjacent on the fashion front is an automatic win in my book.
She went wild in Stéphane Rolland (again) in Shanghai:
So, this look isn't exactly what I'd call a hit (there's a strange case of Jekyll & Hyde going on with this skirt), but you've got to admire her gumption: That is a look. Besides, she's totally rocking the buttercup yellow!
And last, but not least: Erdem at the Beijing Premiere:
Stunning, right? But wait...
Gah! Sheer pants alert! It's a shame, because this, uh — jumpsuit? Romper? — is really gorgeous from the waist up, it's just that the see-through, wide-legged pants put a damper on the party really fast. But you know what? She owns it like no one else ever could.
Li sure knows how to shake it up on the red carpet, be it with a pantsuit/unitard love-it-or-hate-it risk, or a universally pleasing LWD — and personally, I can't wait to see more!
