Adam Levine was crowned People's “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2013, but that doesn’t mean the Maroon 5 singer is always confident. In fact, we know this about him from those Proactiv commercials. Even though he’s moved beyond his bad skin days, something else recently shook his confidence. Yesterday morning, Adam Levine opened up about his proposal and revealed that he was super nervous when popping the question to now-fiancée Behati Prinsloo.
During his appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael, Levine spilled all of his engagement details including how terrified he felt. It showed a much softer side of the singer and makes me wonder if maybe he’s not actually the egotistical jerk he’s been portrayed as lately.
On the show, he confessed, “It doesn’t matter how certain you are. You still get down on that knee and you get woozy… I’m a confident person, but I got on that knee and everything changes immediately. I lost my equilibrium. I had to get on the other one.” Of course he’s quick to admit how charismatic and confident he usually is, but he set his ego aside and shared, “I had nothing charming to say… I did say at one point, ‘Both knees. Look, I got on both knees.’”
It's nice to see this more humble, sweet side of Levine, who recently earned a bad rep when he reportedly made sure to apologize to his ex-girlfriends prior to the proposal. It also didn’t help things that he supposedly told ex Nina Agdal via text message about his engagement.
Despite those seemingly shady moves, his proposal story may cast things in a different light. It’s entirely possible that Levine so badly wanted everything to go smoothly with his engagement to Prinsloo that he tried everything in his power to get any bad energy out of the way. It could be selfish, or it could be an admirable effort at making things right. And if that’s the case, maybe he’s turning over a new leaf. (Here's hoping for the latter.)
