Man vs. People: Adam Richman Loses Again

by Emma Goddard

We all know that when it comes to social media drama, celebrities rarely win. Unfortunately for Man vs. Food’s Adam Richman, his recent Twitter feud with several of his followers was one battle where he was not going to come out on top. After some pretty flagrant remarks toward a few Instagram users, even allegedly using the C-word, Adam Richman apologized for his gross Instagram bashing comments in a statement to Us Weekly.

“I want to apologize for my inexcusable remarks,” Richman said. “My behavior was unbecoming and unacceptable. I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight.”

The rant started when Richman posted a selfie on Instagram with a caption stating, “Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I’m gonna need to take it in a little… #Victory #EyesOnThePrize #AnythingIsPossible #fitness #transformation #thinspiration.”

Richman’s selfie, which has since been taken down, caused an anti-size discrimination blogger, Amber, from the website Adipose Activist to comment on how she “never liked Adam,” leading to a string of nasty comments between the two and other followers.

In Amber’s blog (which you can read in full here), she mentions how one of her friends attempted to explain the negative connotations of the word “thinspiration” to Richman, to which he responded with “DILLIGAF?” In case you were wondering, that translates to “Does it look like I give a f***.”

From this, many other Instagram followers, as well as Amber, expressed their discontent with Richman who eventually got into a lengthy argument with the blogger. During this dispute, Richman called Amber a “dummy,” telling her to “eat a bag of shit.” He also decided to criticize others by tweeting, “Only f***up it seems was your Dad’s choice to go without a condom,” and told her to “grab a razor blade & draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.” NOT. OK.

There’s no doubt that Richman has ticked a lot of people off, and with losing followers aside, who knows how the Travel Channel will react to his gross actions. Telling someone to harm themselves is never excusable, even if Richman has apologized — we can only hope he's learned from his mistakes, and hopefully comes out of this situation a bit more socially aware.
